Recruitment Marketing Manager

Job Summary:

Carthage College invites applications for joining our award-winning Communications team as a Recruitment Marketing Manager. This position designs strategic marketing plans to support the recruitment and admissions cycle of the College. This work is done in close collaboration with the Office of Admissions, the Office of the Provost, and the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies.

The Recruitment Marketing Manager writes creative briefs, sets and maintains production schedules, conducts research, identifies photography, and collects supporting assets for creating digital and print recruitment marketing materials, including advertising. This position works with the Creative Director and his/her design team on design concepts, as well as with the Associate Vice President and his/her editorial team on content development. The Manager leverages the department's project management system to create and maintain projects, schedule tasks, and ensure that projects stay on deadline and budget.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute marketing communications plans in support of recruitment and admissions. These plans may change from year-to-year based on College priorities. Collaborate with the VP of Communications, admissions representatives, academic faculty and staff, and other key staff to create, design, and update strategic recruitment and other collateral and websites according to institutional, campaign, and admission cycle needs.
  2. Serve as lead project manager for College recruitment and admissions projects and marketing collateral including, but not limited to: websites, brochures, incoming student communications, email, event and travel collateral, guidebook placements, and recruitment-related advertising. Ensure proper communication and review of content, design, and layout with all necessary staff. Collect, compile, and effectively communicate client feedback to creative services and the editorial team throughout production process.
  3. Proactively set and maintain the production schedule for various recruitment efforts. Oversee production processes to include identifying creative needs with the Director of Creative Services. Work with the project coordinator to ensure publications are completed on time and within budget. 
  4. Using the Carthage College project management system (ASANA), work with project production to set up all jobs thoroughly and traffic design comps and proofing stages between client(s) and designer(s). Inform editorial/web, design, and production staffs of expectations with regard to content and design of publications/websites, as well as other specifications such as quantities and deadlines. Relay any questions and concerns to client(s).
  5. Conduct supporting research related to the creation and maintenance of strategic recruitment collateral and web presence including the Honors Program, departmental brochures, diversity programming, and service functions e.g., writing center, counseling center, etc. 
  6. Assist the VP of Communications with market research initiatives, including identifying new advertising and marketing opportunities, conducting surveys, and managing focus group logistics.
  7. Collaborate with the AVP and his/her editorial team on the development of multimedia, photo slide shows, and other content in support of recruitment campaigns. 
  8. Work with AVP and his/her editorial team to proofread collateral at all stages of production and ensure that all corrections, updates, and changes are incorporated into the final copy.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least 5-7 years of marketing experience is required, preferably in higher education
  • Experience with traditional and digital marketing for recruitment purposes
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in reviewing data and developing strategies to bolster recruitment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills are required, particularly planning, managing deadlines, and evaluating progress.
  • Experience proofreading and editing, with an impeccable attention to detail
  • Advanced computer literacy, particularly in word processing, using Internet resources, and using databases
  • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage constructively with diverse cultures or backgrounds
