Assistant Program Coordinator - 20 hours/week

Job Summary:

Carthage College invites applications for the part-time Assistant Program Coordinator role in our Center for Faith and Spirituality.  The position works with the Center's Student Staff in the development and implementation of programs and activities that will encourage the creation of community on campus. This opportunity is for the 2018-2019 school year only (August 13, 2018 - May 22 2019).

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Provide training and support for Campus Ambassador (CA's) programing
  2. Assist with design and implementation of staff training events in August, February, and April or May
  3. Meet regularly in One-on- One with CA's to help guide them in development and implementation of programs
  4. Lead Bi-Weekly Meeting with CA's
  5. Facilitate a reflection with all the CA's to reflect on learning and growth opportunities6. Support the CA's the development and implementation of Chapel Night Live program for J-term
  6. This position directly supervises approximately 6-10 CFS Student Staff/Campus and Community Ambassadors and carries out supervisory duties in accordance with college policies and applicable employment laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Requires a minimum education including successful completion of 4 years of high school, or equivalent,
    plus completion of two or four years of college or graduation from a two-year technical college with an
    Associate's Degree
  • Educational preference for completion of a Bachelor Degree or higher
  • Requires a minimum of 1-3 years of youth ministry
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students,
    parents/family members, faculty, staff and guests/community members
  • Requires the ability to work collegially in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to exercise individual initiative, independent action, and sound judgment
  • Requires demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations with confidence and function effectively
    with frequent interruptions
  • Requires demonstrated expertise in the areas of organization, problem-solving and critical thinking
    Requires knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of standard office equipment such as a telephone,
    computer keyboard, copier, scanner, etc
