Job Summary:

Carthage College invites applicants to teach our seven-week program in Adult Undergraduate Studies. We offer undergraduate courses of study that provide opportunities for busy adults to pursue degrees on a part-time evening basis, at times convenient to their schedules. These positions report to the Department Chair within the respective course.

With several terms running each year, the College often seeks qualified adjunct instructors with a special interest and talent in teaching post-traditional students. Seven-week, evening courses are offered Monday through Thursday from 6-9 p.m.

Undergraduate Subjects to teach:

  • Management Operations
  • Accounting
  • Criminal Justice

  • Finance (Master's degree must be from an AACSB-accredited program)
  • Political Science
  • Religion
  • Sociology

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Instructors provide classroom instruction and evaluate homework assignments, exams, and quizzes. Courses offered in the 7-week program meet once a week for seven weeks so instruction should be delivered in a blended format so that learning outcomes are equivalent to traditional, semester courses. Participation in a blended-learning workshop is required for all instructors teaching with AUS.
  2. Instructors must be available via email outside of classroom hours.

  • Requires the ability to use a personal computer and Web browser, Learning Management System, Gmail, and Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.

How to Apply:

Applications are reviewed continually on an as-needed basis. Application materials should include a cover letter and a curriculum vitae or resume. Be sure the letter of interest indicates the area in which you are interested in teaching so your materials are routed to the appropriate academic department.. Submit these materials in the form of a single PDF document with the format "last name, department (i.e., Management Operations, Economics, etc.)" through the 'apply now' button.
