Assistant Director of Advancement Programs

Job Summary:

Carthage College invites applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Advancement Programs to work within the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) to plan and expertly execute the College's donor engagement programs and assist with college-wide events.

The Assistant Director works with and takes strategic direction from senior staff to develop and implement programs that foster and nurture lasting relationships between Carthage College and its donors and to steward gifts such as endowed funds, campaign gifts, principle gifts, and gifts from major donors. Aspects of these programs include prospect development, communications, fundraising volunteer management, basic research and data analysis, and gift recognition. The successful candidate will engage/coordinate student workers in executing any of the above responsibilities and will manage all logistical details for donor relations events.

This position reports to the Director of Advancement Programs.

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent significant related experience required
  • Minimum of three years higher education experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success with special event and project management; strong organizational and time-management skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and relational databases
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume, and confidential service environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed for occasional special events, and occasional travel (approximately 5%)
