Coordinator of Nursing Learning Laboratories and Clinical Affiliations

Carthage College invites applicants for an opportunity in the Nursing Department.  This role is responsible for directing the activities of the nursing learning labs and for fostering effective relationships with the department's clinical partners.  Using an innovative and collaborative approach, the Coordinator assists the Nursing faculty in developing, implementing, and evaluating quality and effective psychomotor skills and simulation experiences that support and enhance the Nursing curriculum, and will, in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Course Directors, plan and arrange the clinical experiences for the Nursing program.


1. Collaborate with the faculty in designing, implementing, and evaluating psychomotor and simulation experiences.  Provide orientation to faculty on the simulation curriculum and skills labs.

2. Responsible for all operational aspects of the psychomotor and simulation laboratories

3. Make recommendations to the Director that keep the psychomotor and simulation experiences on the cutting edge of Nursing education practices

4. Collaborate with the Director in developing and administering a cost-effective laboratory budget

5. Provide instruction or ensure effective instruction in the psychomotor and simulations laboratories

6. Maintain an area of clinical competence and national certification as appropriate

7. Serve on departmental, divisional, and/or college-wide committees as appropriate

8. Engage in relevant community partnerships that are consistent with, support, and advance the College and department's mission

9. Act as the liaison of the department with current and future clinical agencies

10.In collaboration with the Director and faculty, request and track clinical agency experiences

11.Attain and maintain, in conjunction with the department's Administrative Assistant, all clinical practice affiliation agreements

12.Collaborate with the department's Administrative Assistant to ensure that all faculty and students have met the requirements to participate in clinical experiences


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Master's degree in Nursing, or higher, preferred
  • Unencumbered license to practice professional Nursing in the state of Wisconsin
  • National certification as appropriate to role
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching in a pre-licensure Nursing program and currency in clinical practice
  • Knowledge of teaching-learning principles and best practices in simulation learning
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to organize and coordinate complex laboratory, simulation, and clinical schedules
  • Anticipate personnel and material needs of the labs and make recommendations to the Director
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the Nursing field
